Twenty data hands to one — and an exit to MSCI.

A performance-analytics provider migrated off legacy systems onto OpenFinance, priced 350,000 securities a day across $2.4 trillion, and ran it all with a single data steward.

The engagementInvestorForce

Serving 500 institutions means the numbers can never be wrong — or slow.

The client provides investment-performance management to money managers, consultants, plan sponsors, and institutional investors. Its legacy data systems couldn't keep up with the volume — hundreds of thousands of daily positions, 350,000 securities priced every day, modified-Dietz at account and entity levels, and blended reference data from more than fifty sources.

OpenFinance migrated the whole operation onto standardized feeds infrastructure with a robust, multi-identifier asset master, so positions aggregated cleanly across sources that each named securities their own way.

The challenge

  • Migrate off the client's legacy data systems without disrupting delivery.
  • Deliver daily valuations and performance to end customers at scale.
  • Keep customer data separated and secure, never commingled.
  • Aggregate positions across differing security identifiers that varied by source.

The approach

  • Standard OpenFinance feeds infrastructure with multi-level account hierarchies.
  • A robust asset master with per-security, multi-identifier cross-reference.
  • Multiple custom output formats mapped to the client's requirements and uses.
  • Automation designed to remove manual data handling end to end.

Exit
Acquired by MSCI after growing to the largest plan-sponsor consulting clients

With data operations automated by design, the client grew into the largest consulting names in the plan-sponsor vertical, launched automated web reporting across its base, and had a successful exit — selling to MSCI.
